Your second blog entry will be to give us a brief introduction to your novel by researching one artifact of WWII, significant to both the time period and your novel. (Ex. If you were reading The Great Gatsby, some artifacts might include a 1920’s coupe, Town Tattle, The Old Metropole, The Rise of the Coloured Empires, etc.) It can be anything from weapons and artillery, to war propaganda (German or American), 1940’s pop culture, clothing/fashion, specific areas/buildings, foods, etc., whatever interests you!
*****Remember, an artifact is an object made by a human being, typically an item of cultural or historical importance.
Because most of you are barely starting to read your novels, it is perfectly acceptable that you choose something from the first few chapters…. In fact, part of this assignment requires you to PREDICT the importance of this artifact.
Your blog MUST include the following:
----> A description of an artifact that is significant to both the historical context of WWII and your novel…. The more creative the better!! Include any basic background information you can (who, what, where, when, etc.)
---->A picture of the artifact (including citation)
---->A brief description of the significance of the artifact…. Why is it important?! PREDICT: What sort of impact do you think it will have on the rest of your novel or the outcome of the war? Any?
And then answer the following question:
---->Does this artifact emotionally change your opinion of the war? Do you have any sort of emotional response to this artifact? (anger, sadness, pity, joy??) Answer the question, and then EXPLAIN WHY.
***As usual, I’m looking for quality versus quantity….. However, do the amount of work you KNOW will get you a certain grade!! I’m looking for evidence of great thinking and great effort….and I know all of you are capable of doing a fantastic job on this post.
